The Old Lady who Swallowed Star Wars

Today was Seth's year-end program for his first grade class. He presented us with his writing portfolio, and I just had to share one of my favorite selections, from way back at the beginning of the school year. The assignment was to rewrite "There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly." Seth's masterpiece follows, with spelling corrections so you can understand it. The original spellings (and the illustrations) are what make it really entertaining, but at least you can get a glimpse into the life of a mom of four boys.

"There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Clone"
by Seth Chatwin

There was an old lady who swallowed a clone.
She got blown, she swallowed a clone.

There was an old lady who swallowed Darth Maul.
She was about to fall, she swallowed Darth Maul.
She swallowed Darth Maul to kill the clone.

There was an old lady who swallowed Anakin.
She looked like a mannequin, she swallowed Anakin.
She swallowed Anakin to push down Darth Maul.
She swallowed Darth Maul to kill the clone.

There was an old lady who swallowed Yoda.
She went to Koda, she swallowed Yoda.
She swallowed Yoda to protect Anakin.
She swallowed Anakin to push down Darth Maul.
She swallowed Darth Maul to kill the clone.

There was a battle in her stomach. The End.

Very funny - and clever! Having a Star Wars obsessed son of my own I can truly appreciate the stomach ache that poor Old Lady must have had by the end!
